About the Programme

The EAIM’s Certificate in Business Management (Chinese) is a University Foundation Program designed to prepare O-level or Middle-school graduates for entry into renowned and reputable university in UK. It is a 6 months programme that provides students an intensive, fast-track admission into their desired undergraduate Bachelor’s degree programmes.

Student in this course will be introduced to Accounting, Management, Economics and Statistics so as to analyse the real world business issues and entrepreneurship.

Modules

This module is an introductory course in financial accounting theory and practice. It introduces basic accounting concepts and practices that are essential for students who have no background in accounting and are completing a course in business studies. It covers the Accounting Equation and Theory of Double Entry, Accounting Concepts, Double Entry System for Expenses and Revenues, Accounting Procedures including the accounting for Fixed Assets, provision of Depreciation, Preparation of Final Accounts – Trial Balance and the Balance Sheet, Basic Accounting Ratios and Interpretation of Final Accounts, Bank Reconciliation and others.

This module covers the foundation of management. It is an introductory level courses designed for first-time students of management preparing for pre-university and/or colleges. Management is a demanding and dynamic profession which has to embrace new and challenging era that includes e-commerce, virtual organisation and e-money etc.

Students will be exposed to the Introduction of Management; Evolution of Management Theories, the Processes of Management – Planning, Organising, Leading and Control, Managing Globalisation, Managing Social Responsibility and Ethics, Managing Organisation Culture, Developing High Performance Groups and Teams, Motivating and Rewarding Employee Performance, and Effective Leadership, Change and Organisation Communication etc.

The module consists of the main parts. Part 1 covers Micro-Economics and Part 2 covers Macro Economics. In Micro-economics, students will be taught the difference between Microeconomics and Macro-economics, Basic Economic Concepts, Basic Economic Problems, Production Possibilities Curves, and Economic Systems, Demand and Supply, Determinants of Demand, Price/Income/Cross Elasticity of Demand, Law and Determinants of Supply, Price Elasticity of Supply, Market Equilibrium, Theory of Consumer Behaviour (focus only on Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility).

For Macro-economics, students will be exposed to Macro-economic goals and Government policies, Components of Macro-economics, Concepts of Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply, National Income, Methods of Measuring National Income.

Statistics encourages logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability in all aspects of life. In this module, students will be presented real-life applications of concepts. Specifically, students will be taught Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Annuity, Trade and Cash Discounts, Mark-up and Markdown, Promissory Notes, Installment Purchases, Depreciation and Personal Income Taxation.

This module is designed to help students maximise their abilities and equip them with effective study skills. Students will learn useful strategies to better prepare them for their final exams. Some topics to be covered include how to be a good learner, getting the most out of lectures, effective reading and note-making, critical and creative thinking, and developing cognitive skills in order to question assumptions, evaluate and compare propositions.
