Programme
Modules

You will study key business and management theory and create strategies for both national and international enterprises. You will evaluate leadership, reflect on behaviour and competencies, apply innovative problem-solving, and communicate business plans effectively. The programme ensures in-depth knowledge and equips you with practical skills and work experience for a successful transition into the professional world.

The aim of this module is to develop students’ cultural awareness and intercultural business competence through gaining the knowledge, skills, and mind-set appropriate for operating in the global working environment. Students will study key theories in cultural variation and cross-cultural working, and will apply these to the complex working styles and communication challenges faced by international organisations, their employees and those responsible for managing global workforces.

To develop a critical understanding of how organisations formulate and implement effective strategic decisions to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.

The aims of this module are to provide students with an evidence-based management lens to leadership. They will learn to use theory and research to consider what effective leadership means, and the wider issues surrounding leadership practice.

The aims of this module are:

  • To provide students with an understanding of the management consulting industry with an appreciation of the range and scope of the industry, its different markets and providers, from sole traders through to large corporate firms.
  • To choose a particular area of the industry to explore in more detail and to understand the key trends and developments in the area.
  • To explore the key areas of disruption in the industry and how it is responding to those challenges.

This module is designed to develop a comprehensive understanding of the special requirements for successfully conducting international marketing activities as many businesses today have expanded and are continuing to expand in the global arena in search of higher profits and market share. Their success largely depends on their ability to apply business concepts in foreign markets, but also have to respond and adapt to global challenges (e.g. pandemics). The main course objective is thus to develop student skills in holistically applying marketing principles in an international setting. To this end, concepts and analytical frameworks, which can be used in practice, will be presented to students taking this module. During the module it is hoped that students will develop a cultural sensitivity in addition to enhancing their analytical and creative skills.

The module aims at developing critical and analytical thinking to assess sustainable operations management alongside the provision of a range of robust theories, frameworks, and tools to enhance the sustainability performance of organisations.

The aims of this module are:

  • To give students an appreciation of different types of consulting approaches both ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ that are used by contemporary consulting firms.
  • To give students an understanding in more detail of one approach i.e. Soft Systems Methodology.
  • To develop useful consulting skills through application on a team-based exercise.

As a society we increasingly expect business leaders to assume a socially responsible role. Managers and business leaders increasingly find themselves confronted with a growing range of complex ethical issues. This dynamic subject focuses on ethical reasoning and critical analysis. It integrates philosophy with more traditional and familiar business disciplines such as management, law, economics and public policy. The overall aim of this module is to provide participants with the critical knowledge and practical skills to identify and navigate, ethical issues across geographical and cultural borders.

  • Analyse the governance structure of new technologies;
  • Evaluate the emerging issues concerning new technologies (e.g. robotics, AI), with regards to their legal, societal and policy implications(e.g. data protection, lability, ethics, consumer protection).
