Modules

Mobile Apps Programming with Java is designed to increase the breadth and depth of knowledge and practical skills of students in the wireless field. This module is designed to extend the students understanding of programming principles particularly knowledge of Java data types, statements, branching, iteration, arrays and lists, designing classes, interfaces and polymorphism, inheritance, I/O and file streams, sorting and searching and advanced Graphical User Interface (GUI) design. Students will apply this knowledge and provide solutions to practical problems.

This module provides students with an introduction to the various types of Information Systems (IS) especially Management Information System and how IS can be employed to support various business functions. At the end of this module, the student would have a gained a deeper understanding of what Business Analyst needs to deliver. This module also seeks to deliver a highimpact focus on advancing current FinTech applications in a real-world application setting, and expect to dive into details from Peer-to-Peer(P2P) Lending platform to Payments platform and Cryptocurrencies.

This module introduces students to the core concepts, methods, and values involved in doing research, from formulating research questions, reviewing the literature, designing questionnaires, to carrying out data analysis and presenting research results. The strengths and weaknesses of research methods are examined to help students choose an appropriate methodology, and the wide philosophical issues and ethical controversies that affect research are discussed. It also examines the distinction between quantitative and qualitative research techniques and how and when they should be used.

This module provides students with the fundamental concepts of e-business and e-commerce. Students will acquire hands-on experience in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of e-business applications using the appropriate application tools. Apart from E-Commerce, you will be learning the benefits and the interaction between Internet of Things and E-Commerce, as well as, how IoT-enabled devices exchange data with each other through the internet, helping retail and e-commerce businesses to carry on their operations efficiently. Expect to pilot a practical IoT device for daily business use.

The demand for digital talent has been growing and more so for Cybersecurity talents. The increasing awareness of the risk posed by cyber-crime and espionage among organisation and individuals is fuelling the demand, as cyber threats become more sophisticated. With the alarming cases such as WannaCry ransomware & cryptoworm, governments have stepped up their cybersecurity measure in light of plausible vulnerabilities. This module covers Networking, Exploitation Programming, Wireless Security, Advanced Information and Network Security, and Other key Network Security aspects.

This module aims to provide students with an introduction to HDFS, MapReduce, Yarn, and Spark. Students will be able to learn how to set up Hadoop development, working with the file system, setting up your Hadoop development environment, working with the Hadoop file system, running and tracking Hadoop jobs, tuning MapReduce, understanding Hive and HBase, exploring Pig tools, building workflows, using other libraries, such as Impala, Mahout, and Storm, understanding Spark, visualizing Hadoop output. Students will apply this knowledge and provide solutions to practical problems.

Furthering from Innovation and Entrepreneurship I , this module looks into developing sustainable venture; value creation; social entrepreneurship, innovation within the value chain of an organisation; ownership and structure; innovators in action: managing rapid growth, managing a troubled organisation, and crafting a personal strategy. An insight of the process reveals more than how innovation is carried out in a systematical structure, it leads to the concept of social entrepreneurship to support the idea of environmental sustainability and challenges.

Systems Analysis & Design is an introductory module and it covers the key concepts of analysing and designing object-oriented systems. Students will be taught Unified Modelling Language or UML, the current industry standard used in the design of computer based systems, especially the various diagramming concepts of UML. In addition to UML, the fundamentals of software project management as well as contemporary issues relating to software project management will be discussed in this module.

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.

Graduation Requirement

• Must passed all modules.
• Must achieve an overall attendance of 90% (International Student) and 75% (Local Student).
