The Advanced Diploma in Business and Human Resource Management programme is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills to excel in both business management and human resource functions. Other important subjects include Learning and Development in Organizations, emphasizing employee growth, and Strategic Human Resource Management, which aligns HR practices with business objectives. Graduates of this programme will emerge with a robust understanding of how to manage human capital effectively and foster a positive workplace culture. With knowledge in Employment Law for Managers and Employee Relations, students will be well-prepared to address legal and relational challenges in the workplace, driving organizational success in dynamic and evolving business environments.

Modules

The module offers a comprehensive exploration of the intricacies within a globalized business environment. It underscores the profound impact of cultural diversity on organizational dynamics, leadership approaches, and communication strategies. Students explore into various cultural dimensions, cross-cultural communication techniques, and negotiation strategies. The module ensures students are well-equipped with the skills necessary to adeptly manage cultural differences, fostering inclusivity and collaboration within a diverse work environment. Additionally, it encompasses essential aspects such as cultural intelligence, global leadership, and adaptive management practices tailored to diverse cultural contexts.

This module is designed to teach HR students the skills to recruit and select the best talent to help drive organizational strategy. The module will also prepare HR students to evaluate two methods for job analysis and several selection methods with an emphasis on designing and conducting professional and valid interviews. Students will learn how to design and ask interview questions that are behaviorally anchored and focused on person-fit and job-fit skills, both of which are important for successful adaptation and effective performance on the job. Students will also learn how to design a process and framework for final individual or group selection. Lastly, they will learn several strategies to successfully onboard new employees, train them, and assess their work performance.

This unit introduces students to a real-world work setting, allowing students to learn directly from experienced learning and development professionals. Students will have the opportunity to develop professional and practical skills and increase their employability, networks and industry understanding. Students will critically reflect on feedback on their performance, what they have learned about themselves and how their academic studies have prepared them to be an effective learner.

This unit provides an advanced understanding of various change management models within a sustainability framework. The unit takes a critical approach to the drivers of organizational change and the process for managing change while ensuring business sustainability.

This module aims to allow learners to contribute to various aspects on decision-making process that influence an organization’s behaviour and improve its performance. It enables learners to understand how changes in internal and external environment impact an organization and how different management practices can help shape its response to these changes. It looks at the importance of professional ethics and its relationship to managing risk.

The module focuses on aligning HR strategies with organizational goals and explores workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations. Emphasizing the strategic role of HR, the module addresses contemporary challenges and considers external factors like globalization and technology. It equips individuals to create sound HR strategies fostering greater organizational effectiveness and stronger competitive advantage.

This module offers a thorough exploration of the intricacies surrounding the interactions between employees and employers in organizational settings. Covering historical developments, legal frameworks, collective bargaining, and conflict resolution, it allows to gain insights into managing employee relations effectively. The module also includes a good degree of emphasis in strategies for creating positive work environments, fostering employee engagement, and addressing disputes. Emerging trends, including technological impacts and evolving work arrangements, are scrutinized. This allows learners to develop the essential skills to navigate complex employee relations issues, and contribute to cultivating harmonious and productive workplaces, while aligning good practices amidst contemporary challenges and advancements in the field.

It also covers foundational principles of employment law, including employment contracts, discrimination, termination, and workplace health and safety. Emphasis is placed on understanding legal frameworks, compliance obligations, and the rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees. Assessment

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.

Graduation Requirement

• Must passed all modules.
• Must achieve an overall attendance of 90% (International Student) and 75% (Local Student).

Academic Minimum Entry Requirement

  • EAIM Diploma in relevant field of study, or
  • Polytechnic Diploma in relevant field, or
  • BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in relevant field of study, or
  • Other qualifications or professional qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis

Mature Candidate who is at least 30 years old with at least 8 years of working experience.

English Language Minimum Entry Requirement
  • EAIM Certificate in Business English (Advanced), or
  • IELTS 5.5, or
  • O-Level C6 English or equivalent, or
  • Minimum score of 85 in Duolingo English Test, or
  • Other equivalent English qualifications
