This unit offers a unique exploration of Business Management from the perspective of Human Resource Management (HRM). It intertwines people management with strategic considerations to provide a holistic grasp of business dynamics. Business management, dedicated to system and process optimization ensures organizational viability, while HRM achieves the same goals, through the prioritization of employee well-being and bolstering of productivity. With increased focus on the synergies between these domains and their interdependence for organizational success, students will examine and apply strategic HRM principles alongside business strategies. This process nurtures a skill set conducive to comprehensive leadership, ensuring individuals emerge well-prepared for roles of leadership with a nuanced understanding of organizational functionality in the context of both business management and HR practices.

The focus is on the strategic dimensions of Human Resource Management (HRM), emphasizing Development and Planning. This involves integrating HR development as a coaching mechanism to enhance employees’ existing knowledge, skills, and abilities, with the goal of making them more proficient. Simultaneously, Human Resource Planning (HRP) ensures optimal alignment between employees and job roles through a four-step process: analysing present labour supply, forecasting demand, balancing demand with supply, and aligning with organizational goals. HRP provides valuable insights, informing strategic decisions about organizational structure, resource allocation, and overall business strategies. This module equips students to strategically drive workforce development and align HR practices with organizational objectives.

Understanding talent acquisition as attracting and recruiting candidates with desired skills, it emphasizes broad applicant pools for optimal selections. Stressing the critical role of sound decisions in organizational effectiveness, reward, the module underscores the importance of acquiring skilled workers, reducing valuable training time and costs. Additionally, it introduces a comprehensive recruitment process, accommodating diverse user roles. Students are provided with strategic insights, preparing them to navigate talent acquisition challenges and contribute effectively to organizational success in the dynamic business landscape.

Examining the nuanced dynamics shaping human behaviour in business organizations, the emphasis is on research, theory, and practical application. The scope includes macro elements like organizational structure, technology, and environment, alongside group dynamics, leadership, conflict resolution, and individual factors such as personality and motivation. Offering insights into pivotal aspects of human behaviour, the course delves into managerial roles, the historical evolution of management, ethics, and multicultural contexts. Concentrating on bolstering leadership skills, this module readies students to adeptly navigate diverse organizational challenges and make substantial contributions to achieving organizational goals.
