  1. Introduce the marketing concept and the role the marketing function plays in achieving organisational success in national and international contexts
  2. Support students in developing their ability and skills in evaluating the impact of business environments and its implications for marketing decisions
  3. Prepare students to present actionable and sustainable marketing plans and strategies and evaluate a plan’s outcomes.
  4. Assess students’ knowledge and skills in applying marketing management theory and frameworks to a real-life organisation to support students’ future employability or entrepreneurial ambitions.

This module takes a stakeholder perspective to examine relationships between the government, employers, workers, and trade unions. Taking an international approach and examining outcomes on employment, wage negotiations, collective voice, employee involvement and equal opportunities. Additionally, this module provides a practical insight into understanding and applying employment law to a range of real-world scenarios within the workplace. Discussions and debates on the impact of future regulation will also be examined. Using the framework of employment regulation, this module will equip students to develop the relevant skills and knowledge to advise employers, design effective people practice’s and explore approaches to mitigate risk.

This module aims to provide students with an understanding of AI, the nature and structure of such a technology, along with the organisational context. It will provide students with an understanding, tools and frameworks that can be applied in the planning and implementation of an AI strategy, a key aspect of vast investments in business today.

Following an introduction to AI, students will look at a wide variety of tools that can be used to support work in areas such as strategy formulation, business process integration, risks, ethical implications, and security in the context of the fast-emerging space of AI.

The module will to share the latest evidence-based knowledge with students regarding different aspects of learning and talent development in organisations. It aims to raise awareness of how different management functions can be enhanced through human resource development (HRD) initiatives and how HRD relates to business strategy and effectiveness. This will enable students to develop a good understanding of learning, training and development in different settings and contexts and they will then apply their learning to a case study organisation.

The module addresses (i) the governance of corporations, and (ii) wider national frameworks of corporate governance, which include the institutional underpinning of economic transactions that protect property rights, enforce contracts, and organise collective action. Those corporate governance frameworks provide the infrastructure of rules, regulations, and information needed for cooperation and exchange among different economic actors, including individuals and corporations. In turn, internal governance of corporations reconciles different interests of multiple stakeholders, including owners, managers and employees, in order to minimise conflicts and ensure effective cooperation needed for business success.

Students will be better prepared to succeed in today’s complex and evolving work environments, whilst also being able to address contemporary challenges such as sustainability and ethical governance. Module will emphasise iterative problem-solving, enabling students to handle uncertainty and changes, increasing their employability in dynamic work environments. This module will underline transparency and accountability through clear communication, defined roles, and regular evaluations, will help to align well with good governance practices and ethical project management. Students will learn the adaption of AgilePM techniques that would assist Enterprise to rapidly develop, test, and refine products or services, reducing time-to-market and increasing the capacity for innovation. Module will also emphasize on Employability as employers value adaptability and problem-solving abilities, both of which are central to Agile methodologies.

AI and automation are transforming accounting and finance by enhancing efficiency, decision-making, and accuracy. This module equips students with key concepts, theories, and the latest thinking on AI-driven technologies and their application in finance and accounting. Students will explore the latest tools, techniques, and ethical considerations surrounding AI and automation. Through real-world case studies and hands-on projects, they will develop skills crucial for employability and enterprise. The module emphasizes practical learning, preparing students to innovate and lead in future accounting and finance roles. ESG principles are integrated to align with modern governance demands. This module equips students with essential AI and automation expertise, ensuring they can navigate and excel in an evolving accounting and financial landscape.

The module will teach students key analytical techniques that are commonly used in industry to implement data-driven decision making. Specifically, the module will introduce students to fundamental topics in statistics such as types of data, types of data distributions, sampling, statistical tests, that are required to explore data and discover important patterns and relationships in it. Furthermore, the module will teach basic statistical modelling methods such as linear regression, that are used to model various economic outcomes and study effects of different factors on them. On completing the module, students will be able to apply relevant analytics techniques to tackle practical business problems.

This module provides students with an advanced understanding the multiple sources of risk faced by companies in the two main categories: operational and financial risks. It develops the basic models for risk measurement and control. The mathematical models and methodology will be integrated with empirical evidence to provide the students with the tools to operate as a risk manager in the financial industry.

In addition, students will develop a critical understanding of the limitations and risks associated with the advancements of financial technology and the changing regulatory environment.

In the context of today’s dynamic global marketplace, sustainability has evolved from a buzzword to a fundamental element of strategic planning in international business.

There is an increasing demand for corporate social responsibility, driven by diverse stakeholders including customers, shareholders, suppliers, and partners. For companies operating internationally, sustainability entails far more than the implementation of sustainable practices; it represents a strategic avenue to achieve a competitive edge.

This module considers these critical issues and beyond, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the implications of sustainability for global business strategies, encompassing both the challenges and the opportunities it presents.

This module introduces students to the scope and role of marketing within national and international organisations and the dynamic business environment in which they operate.  Many businesses today have expanded and are continuing to grow in the global arena in search of higher profits and market share.  Their success largely depends on their ability to apply business concepts in foreign markets as well as responding and adapting to global challenges.  Thus, marketing concepts and analytical frameworks which can be used in practice will be presented to students throughout the module.
