The Diploma in International Hospitality and Tourism Management offers students practical knowledge in the hospitality, attractions and tourism industry, as well as to develop their work skills.

Students will gain foundation knowledge in areas such as Destination Management, Revenue Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship 1, Service Industry and Leadership, Accommodation Management, and Culture and Cuisine. 

Upon completion of the Diploma programme, students will be able to progress to Advanced Diploma, Bachelor and Master programmes.

This module aims to equip students with the skills to identify and exploit opportunities for revenue and operational optimization in the hospitality industry. Students will explore the application of sales and marketing techniques and how it can impact the revenue goals of the hotel. Strategies like effective management of electronic channel distribution, sales and marketing structure, pricing, and forecasting models that will impact profitability throughout the various forms of accommodation.

This module aims to enable students to explore and examine a relevant and current overview of leadership and management in the context of the service sector environment. Students will also be able to understand leadership and management principles, and to review their potential career in management in the service sector. Students will evaluate effective management and leadership for the service industries through application and reflection on skills required and applied in a service industry context.

This module is to provide students with an understanding of the concepts of innovation and entrepreneurship in the macro-environment. The topics cover the arena of entrepreneurial goals and context; recognizing market opportunities; sourcing for factors of production and resources; concept of sustainability and developing sustainable venture; value creation; social entrepreneurship, innovation within the value chain of an organisation; ownership and structure; innovators in action: managing rapid growth, managing a troubled organisation, and crafting a personal strategy.

This module exposes students to the real-world perspective of today’s hospitality industry, locally and overseas, and whether in a city hotel or resort. Students will be equipped with fundamental skills and knowledge of hotel and resort operations, including front office operations, housekeeping, security and loss prevention management.

This module aims to provide students with a sound knowledge of popular travel destinations around the world which is of key importance in the travel and tourism industry. Students will be introduced to the key principles, processes and policies of tourism development of a destination. The fundamentals of understanding destination management, such as the role of a national tourist organisation, travel value chain, destination life cycle and sustainable tourism will be the main focus of the module.

This module will focus on the exploration of foods, eating practices, and customs which have become integral to the Singapore culture and foods are a reflection of these multiple sources.  Cultures around the world will be studied to learn about the origin and migration of different foods, as well as to appreciate the role that food has played in the life of multiple cultural groups over time. The economic impact of food production and consumption will also be considered.

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.
