This module is designed to provide students with an overall perspective of the scope, nature, and methods involved in psychological research. The major concepts examined in this course include memory and learning strategies, research methods in psychology, the biological basis of behaviour, motivation and emotion, sensation and perception, learning through classical and operative conditioning, intelligence, thought and language, and consciousness.

This module introduces students to an overall perspective, psychology as applied to modern life. The module enables students to relate what they are learning to issues that they encounter in their everyday life, such as stress health, work, personal relationships, communication, and self-esteem. This course also helps students understand behavioral traits and personality, and how it sharps our perspective on such areas as sexuality, social pressure, mental health and prejudice.

The “Principles in Counselling” module provides a fundamental framework for comprehending the fundamentals of successful counselling practice. This module explores several counselling techniques, such as person-centered, cognitive-behavioural, and psycho dynamic theories, and covers their theoretical foundations, ethical issues, and practical purposes. In order to help students understand and apply theoretical principles to real-world situations, the module incorporates case studies, role-playing, and interactive discussions. Upon completion of this module, students will possess a firm grasp of the fundamental counselling ideas, ethical frameworks, and interpersonal skills necessary for successful client interaction and moral practice in the field of counselling.

This module is designed to cover the methods of research used to answer psychological questions. It will explore the techniques and utilise SPSS to engage students to explore basic approaches to research design and data analysis, and issues that affect decision making in research. The aim of this module is to provide a foundation for understanding the process of psychological inquiry and to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to critically evaluate studies in the psychological literature. Specific emphasis will be on interpretation and design of research in psychology.

This module offers a thorough examination of the moral issues and professional norms that are essential to counseling work. It explores the laws, rules, and ethical codes that regulate the counseling profession, placing a strong emphasis on moral judgment and responsible behavior. In order to overcome the complicated ethical conundrums that are frequently encountered in counseling practice, students look over case studies and hypothetical scenarios. Students get a heightened knowledge of ethical concerns and ways to assure ethical conduct in their professional activity through talks, role-plays, and ethical decision-making models.

This module introduces students to the scientific study of social behaviour, and to the process of empirical research and report writing as an essential skill for applied psychology. Social behaviour is introduced as the study of social processes at a number of levels from the individual level through to more broadly based social phenomena. Some of the major concepts and areas of social psychology are introduced (e.g., social research methods, socialization, self-esteem, altruism, aggression, attitudes, communication, interpersonal relationships, family issues, prejudice, group processes, cultural considerations, leadership and social influence).

This module is designed to present the several therapeutic modalities utilized in counselling of clients. It gives an overview of the concepts, methods, and applications of core theories such psycho dynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and systemic approaches. The module places a strong emphasis on the value of individualized counseling approaches and examines the function of the relationship between the counselor and the client, moral issues, and the value of empathy and attentive listening in the therapeutic process. Additionally, the module also presents brief counseling techniques, emphasizing goal-oriented tactics. Learners get a comprehensive understanding of counseling techniques by applying theories and methodologies through case studies.

The “Individual and Group Counselling” module provides a dual investigation of the subtle dynamics of individual counselling sessions and the complexities of group therapy environments. The essential ideas, methods, and moral issues particular to group and individual counselling are explored by the students. Pupils get the skills necessary to create personalized evaluations and treatment strategies. Students learn about group dynamics, facilitation techniques, and the use of therapeutic interventions in a group setting in the group counselling section.

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.
