Diploma in Business Management


Programme Introduction

The Diploma in Business Management programme is designed to provide students the theoretical and practical perspective of business management. Students will study subjects covering business, management and finance.

Students will gain knowledge and skill in areas such as Principles of Management, Economics, Financial Accounting 1, Digital Marketing, Innovation and Entrepreneurship 1, Business Statistics, International Business Environment, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence.

Upon completion of the Diploma programme, students will be able to progress to Advanced Diploma, Bachelor and Master programmes.

Programme Objective

• To educate the students on the nature of business management.

• To develop students intellectual capabilities of interpretation and analysis; critical evaluation; selection and synthesis; reasoned argument; research and problem solving skills.

• To analyse the business management environment and adopt innovative approaches to the development of business management.

• To develop analytical and evaluative skills.

Modules

1. Principles of Management

This module introduces students to key challenges faced by managers in the new millennium. Learning includes the study of management concepts, management processes, and managerial roles in organization; classical, behavioural and contemporary viewpoints in management; organizational culture and social responsibility and ethics in management; planning and managerial decision making; organizing and organizational structure and design; leading, managing individuals and groups, motivation, leadership, employment relations and managerial control and control methods.

Assessment

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.

 

Graduation Requirement

• Must passed all modules

• Must achieve an overall attendance of 90% (International Student) and 75% (Local Student)

Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years (at the time of application)

Academic Requirement:
• 2 GCE A-Level OR
• EAIM Foundation Programme or its equivalent OR
• LCCI Diploma Level 3 (module exemption) OR
• 12-Year High School Graduates
 
English Proficiency Requirement:
• Minimum EAIM ETEDP L2, IELTS 5.0, GCE O-Level C6 or equivalent

Generally the curriculum for all levels are taught over 4 terms of 12 weeks. Modules are conducted in formal instructor-led classroom sessions where students are introduced to the course discipline. Each term will cover 2-3 modules with 54 contact hours per module. Lectures are 3-hour sessions and Tutorial 3-hour sessions weekly
